About the Role:
As Account Manager, you will be responsible for building successful partnerships, creating sustainable revenue growth and strengthening retention initiatives for OpenLearning partners. You will work closely with Marketing, Customer Success, and Learning Services teams to meet the needs of new and existing partners, covering all aspects of sales, relationship management, and industry networking.
Key Accountabilities:
- Own the onboarding experience for new clients in your portfolio — collaborate with Customer Success (CS) team to coordinate setup, configuration, and go-live milestones so clients start strong and with confidence
- Collaborate with CS team to deliver training and enablement for client teams — administrators, instructors, and programme leads — tailored to each institution's context and capability level when needed
- Monitor platform usage, adoption metrics, and health scores across your portfolio — acting on signals early, whether they indicate risk or opportunity
- Conduct regular check-ins, health reviews, and quarterly business reviews (QBRs) to stay close to client goals, satisfaction, and evolving needs
- Identify and resolve issues before they escalate — being the person clients trust to get things sorted quickly and without fuss
- Lead renewal conversations for every account in your portfolio — preparing clients well in advance and ensuring satisfaction and value are clearly documented and mutually understood
- Identify, develop, and close upsell and expansion opportunities — new faculties or departments, additional programmes, Marketplace listings, expanded user licences, or premium features
- Negotiate renewals and expansions within agreed commercial parameters
- Maintain an accurate, well-managed pipeline of growth opportunities in HubSpot
- Build strong, trusted relationships across multiple levels of each client institution — from course coordinators and learning designers to Heads of Faculty and Deputy Vice Chancellors
- Position yourself as a strategic partner and trusted advisor — bringing relevant market insights, platform updates, and ideas to client conversations, not just responding to requests
- Represent client interests and priorities internally — bringing structured, actionable feedback to Product, Learning Services, and Marketing in a way that influences decisions
You will work as part of the broader OpenLearning teams to deliver against the company targets, contributing to the continuous improvement processes, and extension into new products and services.
The successful candidate should have:
- 5–8 years in a customer success, account management, or hybrid client-facing role in SaaS or EdTech
- Proven track record of retaining and growing a portfolio of institutional or enterprise accounts
- Demonstrated ability to manage relationships across multiple stakeholder levels simultaneously
- Experience delivering platform training or enablement sessions to non-technical users
- Comfortable owning commercial outcomes — renewal rate, NRR, and expansion revenue
- Familiarity with CRM tools (HubSpot preferred) and basic customer success platforms
- Solid understanding of the higher education and VET landscape, and how institutions evaluate and adopt technology
- Familiarity with LMS platforms, education technologies, and the pedagogy behind effective digital education
- Awareness of OBE, micro-credentials, digital credentialing, and the national lifelong learning agenda
- Understanding of how institutions measure success — student outcomes, enrolment, accreditation performance, and graduate employment
- Warm and credible communicator — equally effective with a course coordinator and a VC or C-suits
- Commercially confident — you identify and pursue growth opportunities naturally without being transactional
- Proactive and analytical — you use data to get ahead of risk and opportunity before they become obvious
- Organised and detail-oriented — you manage multiple clients, deadlines, and priorities without dropping the ball
- Client-curious — you invest real time understanding each institution's context, culture, and constraints before bringing solutions
- Advisor first — you position yourself as a partner, not a vendor contact
- Proactive — you don't wait for renewal dates or red flags to have important conversations
- Collaborative — you work closely with Sales, Product, Customer Success, and Marketing and see the broader team as part of your success
